Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta

The Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta belongs to the northernmost point of the Colombian Andes. More than 20 000 indigenous are living in the area, a visit is often only possible with a permission. In other parts, FARC and paramilitary groups are actively involved in the cocaine trade. The people are poor, mostly living from agriculture or the artisanial panela industry.
